Wasinger Leadership Team Tops 100
Shows unmatched grassroots strength across district

COTTONWOOD FALLS -- Today, Rob Wasinger, Republican candidate for Congress in the first district of Kansas, announced that his Kansans for Wasinger Leadership Team has grown to over 100 members.

"What separates Rob Wasinger from the rest of the pack is his strong grassroots support from business and community leaders across the Big First," said Dick Friedeman of Great Bend, co-chair of the team. "The diversity of Rob's team is a striking reflection of Rob's reputation as a consensus builder to get results for the citizens of Kansas."

Wasinger is a native of Hays and has served Kansas as a former staffer to then-State Senate Majority Leader Jerry Moran, Governor Bill Graves, and most recently as chief-of-staff to U.S. Senator Sam Brownback. Wasinger has been endorsed by former Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson, and is currently on a second tour of the 69-county district. Recently, Rob released his first web ad, titled "9 Reasons."

"I am committed to running a strong, positive, issue-based, grassroots campaign," said Wasinger. "I am honored to have such a stellar leadership team. Together, we will work for a better tomorrow for our children and grandchildren."

Listed below by county are over 100 business and community leaders organizing support for Rob in their area.

Barber County

"In western Kansas many people's health depends on their access to affordable drugs available at their local pharmacy.  Rob is a friend of rural pharmacists and I am proud to support Rob and his commitment to fight for rural health care."
-- John Hagood, pharmacist, Hibbard's Pharmacy, Medicine Lodge

"Here in Medicine Lodge, we like to make our own decisions as a community and we don't appreciate Washington trying to tell us what to do. Rob is the type of Congressman that will represent the interests of Medicine Lodge, not lobbyists and special interests in Washington. Rob believes in local economic development which is the key to a prosperous future for our children and grandchildren. I am proud to endorse Rob Wasinger in his bid for Congress!"
-- Connie White, daycare owner, Medicine Lodge

Barton County

"Rob Wasinger was highly recommended to me by a trusted friend. Nevertheless, I wanted to talk with him myself before publicly supporting him. I am a pastor on the staff of a community church and though I would never presume to tell anyone who to vote for, I am often asked to give my opinion. Having talked with Rob Wasinger and having received straight answers to my questions, I am confident that he is not just another politician. He is the right person in the right place at the right time. He will get my vote."
-- Jana Baxter, associate pastor, Foundry Methodist Church, Great Bend

"I am supporting Rob Wasinger for Congress in the 1st District of Kansas, because he is a descendant of generations of hardworking Kansans and I believe his background in economics will provide prudent decision-making that is very much needed in Washington D.C.  Let's put an end to wasteful government spending and elect Rob."
-- John Francis, Francis Financial Services; member, board of trustees, Ft. Hays State, Great Bend

"I am pleased to support Rob Wasinger as co-Chairman of his campaign for Congress. Representing the Big First is a big job, but I know Rob is up to the task. He's a good family man who has his priorities in order and will fight to preserve our way of life. Rob knows small business owners and farmers across the the Big First work hard everyday. He'll take that same work ethic to Congress on our behalf. I am proud to support Rob's efforts to be the next Congressman from the 1st District."
-- Dick Friedeman, partner, Watkins Calcara; former 1st district chairman, Republican Party of Kansas, Gread Bend

"Here in Great Bend, it is important that we have a Congressman who is constantly visiting with us to hear our concerns so we can be properly represented in Washington. Rob is the only candidate who has shown that commitment by taking the time to visit with us. He has put together a great team of supporters here and I am proud to be part of that team. Rob is an effective leader who will rebuild the Republican Party and ensure it stands on the principles it was founded on."
-- Roger Long, wholesale agricultural chemical salesman, Rosen's Inc., Great Bend

"My name is Jim McVay, and I hail from Great Bend.  In the capacity of Finance Chair, I have joined the Leadership Team to elect Rob Wasinger to Congress, and here's why.  I support Rob because, now more than ever, we need strong conservative values in our nation's capital.  The principles that made America the greatest economic power and the freest people on earth are endangered by those who hold a political philosophy that gives all power to the government rather than to the people.

"The lesson of history, taught to all of us at great cost over the last century, is that bloated government inevitably becomes more tyrannical as it reaches into every facet of our lives.  The modern Democratic Party has refused to heed these lessons, and presses on creating an increasingly intrusive government that wantonly redistributes wealth and aims to control how we live.

"It's time to fight these forces, and Rob Wasinger will do just that.  Our party and our nation lack a strong, conservative elected voice, one that will lead the people and articulate the virtues of liberty and free enterprise, hard work, personal responsibility and self-reliance.  Rob can be that voice, and because I believe he will be that voice, I am happy to announce my endorsement of Rob Wasinger for Congress."
-- Jim McVay, trial lawyer, Watkins Calcara, Great Bend

"It is critical that we send Rob Wasinger to Congress to fight for the needs of cattlemen across Kansas. Our industry is under attack by liberals in Washington who want to over-regulate and micromanage our operations with the goal of putting us out of business. Having worked in Congress for a decade, Rob knows how to get things done and build coalitions to defend our industry. I urge all cattleman to support Rob's bid for Congress. He is a results-oriented public servant who will serve us proudly."
-- Andrew Murphy, C.O.O., ILS Feeders; at-large board member, Kansas Livestock Association, Great Bend

"Rob Wasinger has taken particular interest to the needs of rural health care providers and has pledged to fight the bureaucrats in Washington who seek to burden us with rolls of red tape. I urge all health care professionals across the district to support Rob in his bid for Congress. He will be an advocate for real health care reform that expands local access and empowers health care professionals and patients, not bureaucrats in Washington."
-- Dr. William Slater, M.D., Western Kansas Surgical Specialists, Great Bend

Chase County

"Simply put, Rob is a solutions candidate. I have been impressed with Rob's strong grasp on critical issues and how well he is able to articulate solutions to various problems we've experienced in rural Kansas.  I am very concerned about the "brain drain" caused by our young people leaving the state, and Rob has the ideas and experience to do something about it. If you are concerned about our future and want common sense solutions, please join me in supporting Rob."

As the father of nine children, I know that the issue of access to health care is close to Rob's heart and I know he will fight for a stronger health care system to ensure our families are healthy and happy. Furthermore, as a strong believer in family values, there is no better proponent of pro-life, pro-family values than Rob Wasinger. Please join me in supporting him."
-- Carol Coirier, physician assistant, Chase County Family Health Center, Cottonwood Falls

"As a local sheriff I understand the importance of a strong, local government. I support Rob because he believes the best decisions for local communities are made by its citizens, not bureaucrats in Washington. Rob will work hard as our Congressman for limited government with an emphasis on personal responsibility in our local communities."
-- Rich Dornecker, sheriff, Cottonwood Falls

"Rob combines an understanding of our state's people with insight into the issues of our time. We can send this good man to Congress with confidence that he knows what we think and how to look out for us. With his experience he knows his way around and how to protect our interests when Congress makes the important decisions of the years ahead. Rob will do us well in Congress."
-- Bill Halverson, officer, KBI, Cottonwood Falls

"Rob has the right values to properly represent our interests in Kansas. I know the Wasinger family and know that Rob will always put the interests of families across Kansas above those of special interests, lobbyists, or party favors. We must elect a public servant, not a career politician, and I am fully confident the right man for the job is Rob Wasinger."
-- John Roniger, community leader, Cottonwood Falls

As the father of nine kids, we know that Rob will be focused on preparing for future generations of western Kansans to ensure that our kids stay here... and prosper."
-- John Bosch, attorney, Bosch Law Office, Clay Center

-- Mike and Betty Rajewski, pro-life activists, Hutchinson

"I enthusiastically endorse Rob Wasinger for Congress.  I have found Rob to be engaging and very well versed on the issues that matter to Kansas most. Rob is a thoughtful, articulate proponent of important traditional values, like the sanctity of marriage and the value of human life from conception through natural death.  Having graduated from Harvard with a degree in economics,  he is also an outstanding advocate for the free enterprise system that is responsible for providing Americans with the highest standard of living in the world.  In addition, Rob also advocates a strong national defense and is willing to confront our enemies while strengthening our ties with our allies.  As a physician, I trust Rob to represent me and my family in Washington D.C."
-- Dr. James Ruhlmann, M.D., Hutchinson Clinic, Hutchinson

"As the father of two sons serving in the armed services, it is important to me that we elect representatives who understand the importance of our military in preserving our freedoms.  There is no doubt in my mind about Rob Wasinger's commitment to our military, nor about his willingness to support our men and women in uniform."

"I am drawn to Rob's message and focus on economic development, growth, and prosperity for Kansas. "I have never been very involved in politics, but I have had the opportunity to meet Rob Wasinger, and he impressed me with his intelligence and with his approach to campaigning--one voter at a time.  I can't imagine anyone being any more committed to the people of the First District.  I am proud to support him for Congress."
-- Tyler Jones of Sterling, personal trust administrator, Hutchinson community bank, Hutchinson

"Rob Wasinger is a public servant and proven republican who strongly believes in limited government, low taxes, family and community values, a strong national defense, and personal responsibility. These are exactly the values that need to be fought for in Washington, and I am confident that Rob is the most qualified candidate to do so."
-- Jerry Minix, Minix Real Estate Company, Lyons

"Few politicians I've come across have articulated a plan for rural Kansas the way Rob Wasinger has.  Rob has a plan to develop and keep good paying jobs here in Kansas to ensure our children have opportunities when they come home from college. We cannot afford to lose a generation of Kansans to other states, which is why I'm supporting Rob in his bid for Congress."
-- Lee Couture, owner, C Diamond Outfitters and Ranch, Palco

"We need a strong leader in Congress who understands our way of life and will fight for us in Washington.  Rob is from Western Kansas, he always came back to Western Kansas and he has always fought for Western Kansas both here and in Washington.  Now with bureaucrats in Washington targeting our small business owners and independent oil producers with burdensome tax increases, it is more important than ever that we have Rob in Congress to fight for our right to work hard and support our communities. That is why I strongly endorse Rob Wasinger for Congress and encourage every voter in the 'Big First' to do the same."
-- Alan Rempe, senior representative, Coffeyville Resources, Plainville

Saline County

"I believe Rob Wasinger to be an outstanding candidate for Congress.  His feet are in Kansas but he has the experience in Topeka and Washington DC to make an impact for all Kansas.  Having worked for Governor Bill Graves, Congressman Jerry Moran and Senator Sam Brownback he understands what it takes to represent the people of Kansas."
-- Phil Guries, president, YMCA, Salina

Seward County

"One of the things that impressed me immediately about Rob is that he truly understands western Kansas. Too often we struggle with politicians who think western Kansas stops at Wichita and who have no idea what is really happening in communities in the western third of the state.  Rob wants to hear what we have to say so that he can understand the situation. That seems to be a rare attribute in politicians these days who are more interested in telling us what they think rather than hearing what matters to us. I am supporting Rob Wasinger because I think he will be a strong advocate for western Kansas and will help us get the resources and the programs we need to be productive and competitive with the rest of the state."
-- Danny Burtzloff, owner, LMH Homes/ Laser Magic, Liberal

Thomas County

"Here in western Kansas we value that Rob has visited us several times. Rob has shown a commitment toward our community and I really appreciate that about him. Rob will get things done for western Kansas and I know that he will serve us with the heart of a true public servant. As a small business owner, I especially appreciate Rob's focus on strengthening the economy and that he will keep taxes and regulation to a minimum. That's exactly the kind of vision we need in Washington."
-- Cookie Koenig, small business owner, Colby

Trego County

"Farming is a critical industry here in Kansas and especially here out west. Rob knows this because he spent years fighting for our interests as a key legislative point guy. Rob also understands that it is a special way of life and he will protect and promote it. I endorse Rob and am proud to serve on his leadership team."
-- Wes Hobbs, president, Trego County Farm Bureau, Wakeeney

Wabaunsee County

-- Barb Downey and Joe Carpenter, partners, Downey Ranch, Wamego

Wallace County

"As our next congressman, I look forward to working with Rob on key economic issues in order to develop a more prosperous western Kansas. As the father of nine children, Rob understands that our future is at risk if we cant attract and sustain well-paying jobs to secure the future of our children. Rob is committed to the priorities of western Kansas and will make a great leader in Congress."
-- John Foster, economic development director, Wallace County, Sharon Springs

Washington County

"I've been a farmer in Washington County ever since I got out of the service.  Like most farmers in the first district I've worked hard all my life to pay my bills and support my family.  When I met Rob, I was excited to hear him talk about the issues that I care about: less government regulation, lower taxation, and a plan of economic development to ensure that our children have a prosperous place to live.  I am happy to know that I am helping to send someone to Congress who understands our rural way of life."
-- Dale Peterson, farmer, Clifton

"As a young man I took a risk and came back home to Washington to start a pharmacy.  I know firsthand both the challenge and the importance of keeping our pharmacies strong in rural Kansas.  I support Rob because I know that he will fight for young entrepreneurs like myself and make western Kansas a place a prosperous place for my generation."
