We need to honor our Veterans for their services and many sacrifices. We must give our troops what they need on the battlefield, and I pledge to advocate for improved benefits and resources to those who served this great nation.

I am proud of our veterans and their families who have sacrificed a great deal to keep our country free and safe. My father served three tours of duty in Vietnam and was called up to serve in Desert Shield and Desert Storm. I will always remember welcoming my father home to Hays from Saudi Arabia in 1991. It was a moment of great and almost inexpressible pride to see our neighbors welcome home their own National Guard heroes.

The right policy to pursue with regard to Veterans and Veterans’ benefits is to commit to the improvement of the quality of life for Kansas Veterans across the board, and support bringing benefit services closer to home. We owe it to our Veterans to honor our commitments to them in a timely manner, and improve access to health care in rural Kansas with community-based outpatient clinics.
