Health Care

I want to give you some straight talk on health care -- I was and continue to remain passionately opposed to the health care reform that passed Congress earlier this year. The bottom line is that as your next Congressman, I will do everything in my power to repeal that horrific piece of legislation and replace it with common-sense reforms that will benefit rural Kansans. The reform proposal that passed will undoubtedly result in rationed care, increased taxes, higher premiums, and more debt for our grandchildren.

Everywhere I go, Kansans agree that we need market-based solutions to improving the cost and access to health care instead of more government intervention into our daily lives. You and I both know that we need more than just medical liability tort reform and the ability to buy health care across state lines. We also need to find a way to provide rural access to quality health care across our district.

Ultimately, the best way to fix our health care system is with market and patient-oriented solutions, not more government bureaucracy. I have experience helping patients through the bureaucratic maze of Medicare, and this experience has taught me the value of non-bureaucratic solutions. Our first step is to repeal this monstrosity we call ObamaCare that was created behind closed doors because it is too costly and will result in too much red tape.
