Our nation is coming to a crossroads on our energy policy. The Obama administration wants to shut down coal plants, reduce domestic production of oil and gas, and refuses to move aggressively on new nuclear plants. Unfortunately it seems the answer to everything is no.
Not only is our current energy policy further increasing our dependence on foreign sources of energy, it costs American jobs. When I go to Congress, I will be tireless in advocating for expanding our nation's energy sources. We need to build more coal plants, but we also need to keep expanding our wind energy infrastructure. We should continue drilling for oil and natural gas, but we should also aggressively pursue advancements in biofuels. We should build new nuclear plants because we know how to do it safely and efficiently. This comprehensive energy approach will help lower costs, lower our dependence on foreign sources of energy, and create good paying jobs. Finally, I cannot state my opposition to President Obama's cap and tax policy strong enough. It is a job-killing approach that would hit energy intensive states like Kansas especially hard. When I am in Washington, I can promise you my opposition to this tax increase will be one of the loudest and clearest. |
