National Conservative Leader David Barton Endorses Wasinger for Congress
Noted Historian cites proven leadership, commitment to conservative principles and values

HAYS -- Rob Wasinger, candidate for Congress in the 1st Congressional District of Kansas, today announced that national conservative leader and noted historian David Barton has endorsed his congressional campaign.

"As we look at the remarkable challenges facing our country and our culture, it is critical that we support the next generation of conservative leadership who will correct the course that our current leaders have taken in Washington, DC," said Barton, who has been named one of America's 25 most influential evangelicals by Time magazine. "Rob Wasinger is exactly the kind of proven leader we can trust to represent heartland Kansas values in the United States Congress."

Barton added: "Rob understands that free people and the American entrepreneurial spirit--not more government and exploding deficits--will get our economy out of the free fall that it is in. Rob understands that parents and pastors--not judges and politicians--are the best teachers of the values which make a free and virtuous society possible. Rob is a proven leader and stands out among leaders on Capitol Hill who have been courageous in promoting limited government, traditional values, and constitutional principles. I wholeheartedly endorse Rob's candidacy for Congress and urge all fellow citizens to support Wasinger for Congress."

Wasinger is a native of Hays and has served Kansas as a former staffer to then-State Senate President Jerry Moran and most recently as chief-of-staff to U.S. Senator Sam Brownback.

Wasinger has also been endorsed by former Republican presidential candidate Fred Thompson and has received statements of support from Fr. Frank Pavone and Bobby Schindler, brother of the late Terri Schiavo.

"I am honored to welcome the support of David Barton, an accomplished historian and national leader in the fight to protect and preserve traditional American heritage and values," said Wasinger. "As a native of the heartland of Kansas, I grew up with the values and a strong sense of heritage that David fights for, and I look forward to bringing those values to the U.S. Congress."
